For new Irish Births, Hospitals notify the Registrar of all new births in Ireland. It can take from 2 to 4 weeks for a Hospital to notify the Registrar of the birth. Parents must go to their local registry office and register the birth. If the birth has not been registered, do not apply for a certificate as it will not be available and a search fee will apply.
