What is the GRO Ireland?

The GRO (General Register Office - Oifig An Ard-Chláraitheora) is the central civil repository for records relating to Irish Births, Deaths and Marriages in Ireland.

The GRO will not undertake any genealogical searches.

Marriages

Records are available for Catholic marriages dating back to 1st January 1864 and for other marriages back to 1st April 1845.

Births, Deaths and Roman Catholic Marriages

Records date back to 1st January 1864.
